I was just wandering other than asking around at a bank, what are some top places to get some good and old paper currency from?

I was thinking at a convenience store or something but where else would be good hunting grounds?

    Thank Socomer~

There is no place where you can get old currency from for face value. You can always try to go through straps of bills, and hope for some older ones.

If you get a job somewhere as a cashier, a job in which you acquire tips or work at a toll booth... essentially any job which allows you to deal in cash transactions you could come across a lot of different things. However, you are not likely to find much of anything of any value in circulation as condition is everything when it comes to value of paper. Even a remarkably scarce modern note can severely loose it's value below AU and you are not likely to find very old currency in circulation though it does turn up at banks from elderly, desperate or clueless/careless people depositing older Series of notes.

While it's fun to search circulation notes, you are better off saving up and buying something of quality that will retain it's value amongst collectors.

Here is a nice thread full of links to great paper money sites and dealers:

Make friends with a bank teller. Give them a card with your number on it. Have them call you when anything "wierd" comes in. Bring them dougnuts, bagels, sandwiches from time to time. Works for me. You'll get alot of false alarms but every once in a while you'll get lucky.

I tell ALL my friends and family what I'm searching for, and show them examples. The more eyes you have looking, the better.

I have a teller that sorts through all of the notes she gets for XF and + star notes or anything unusual. I have received hundreds in stars, 1934s, 1929, etc just from that. Also received full set of Kennedy 90% silvers, BU silver quarters, etc. It's always nice to find someone who is willing to look for you.
Also, I have my parents, wife, and in-laws check their bills for *. My sister no longer works at a bank, but she helped me as well when she did. Find ways to avoid paying the premiums and you might get lucky!

Awesome! I need to make buddies with an armored car driver, but it may look suspicious if I just start asking aorund for amored car drivers! :)

One of my brothers use to stock the ATM machines in convinence stores and fast food shops. I wish I had thought to hit him up back them for some nice notes. The thought just did not cross my mind at the time. For his safety, his job was like a best kept family secret.

I would like to see a Brown seal too.

Having friends and family look is a good idea as stated earlier.
When I managed a truck stop I was searching for 295 errors. Had all my employees looking as well. If they found a good one I was willing to pay extra.
Kept them motivated and I literallly ended up with a few thousand.

Also got some good errors, star notes and older notes this way. The more sets of eyes the better your chances.
