I just wanted to share with you guys some recent deals I got. Tasco Stereo Microscope $9.99 at a local resale shop. I hadn't ever had the pleasure of using a stereo microscope and I must say it is amazing the detail you can see with it! It has 15x, 30x, and 45x lenses. I know it isn't the top of the line, but I am really happy with it. Also, I scored a World Coins digital version 1901-2000 + 2001-date ($50 value) and EU 5 cent collection ($9.95 value) for $6.00! Merry Christmas to me! :hail: It's not too often that I get any real deals, so I just wanted to share!
Does it hurt your eyes? I just purchased a loupe and I can't see near sited for about 5 min after using it
It doesn't bother my eyes, but then again neither does a loupe. I wouldn't think the microscope would be a problem, since you just look down into the eyepieces with both eyes open. Very good question.
Great deal. Are you going to be able to figure out a way to take pictures through it? THAT would be the "cat's meow".
I find using a microscope is MUCH easier on my eyes. Great pickups!! I bet the scope pays for itself very quickly, especially if you search for varieties.
Here you go, first photo through the new scope. For funsies, can you identify which coin this fellow is on? Edit: FYI this is taken @ 30x magnification.
Thanks for all the "congrats", it is nice to have people who appreciate the same stuff to share with! I am having a ton of fun with the scope. To those who had questions about eye strain, to me it is like using binoculars. If you can use binoculars without difficulty, then a stereo microscope should be just fine. (In my opinion.)
The secret to microscope viewing is keeping both eyes open as you stated in you earlier post! I remember from my Biology days, really helps me in my retail career, doesn't it! Steve P.S. Congrats and Merry Christmas on your deal!!
New pics I thought y'all might enjoy some pics off the new scope/light setup. It still needs fine tuning.
