Looks like its been scraped but the plating would be gone. Is that a crack in it? Maybe it was hammered, someone trying to flatten the edges. Any hammer marks?
It doesn't look like a hammer job to me....though maybe it was. I would think that it would show some round marks. It is pretty banged up....lol
Shim Looks like it was used as a shim. Placed between some things, then driven home. Should melt nicely.
