Hello! I have a austrian coin, with the inscriptions "FRANC-IOS-I-D-G-AVSTRIAE IMPERATOR / LOD ILL REX A A 1883 HUNGAR BOHEM GAL (4) AND THE DOUBLE HEADED EFFIGY. THE COIN WEIGHS 13.7568 GRAM, and has 40 mm diameter. I have attached some photos. My problem is that I can't find some similar coins on the web. The coin is made out of gold and has some impurities (I have performed some non-destructive analysis on it). Is the coin real? If you have some other informations I will be very gratefull. Thank you
Very interesting thread!!!! I have the same one with the hole, but it is from 1884. ANY IDEAS HOW MUCH THIS THING MAY WORTH?????? Any info.. please ))) Thank you!
how much is a 4 ducats that is without a hole worth. Mine looks like a proof 1915. Thanks in advance.
I understand that, but let's say, i have a good one. No holes, no damages. The interesting thing is, i did not see any other 1884 ones. Could be my coin rare? If it is a reare coin, how much will it worth? I got this coin from my grandma, she had it for 40 years maybe 50
The Austrian 4 ducats coin was minted from 1872 thru 1915 with all of those dated 1915 being restrikes. The coins were struck for use as trade coins and there are no "rare" dates that I am aware of. Thus the coins of all dates, even in BU condition, typically sell for not much more than melt value. That said the coins were struck in .986 gold so melt is generally close to that of pure gold. But that is all that you can reasonably expect for these coins for they have no numismatic value to speak of.
