I did a quick search on this and didn't see anything. I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy a roll or two of them off eBay. It seems like the sellers would pick out all the good ones unless they were lazy. What do you guys think?

Usually they are, but you never know. Some people dont want to put the effort or time in checking them

A follow up question I should have put in the original post... What is a fair price for a roll?

Well each one is 90% silver and 10% copper. Go figure that silver is almost at $30, so I want to think that they may run around $3-$4 per coin even if they are commons. And they're 50 of them in each roll, so a little math, $4 X 50 = $200 and $3 X 50 = $150. So I figure in between $150-$200 since everyone's price is different, but then again, alot of people don't think that way. I've seen rolls of Mercs for $100 before.

    WTF?

I wouldn't do more than silver melt plus a couple percent for a roll of Mercs... it could be loaded with common-date circulated 1940's for all you know.

A $5 face value roll of Mercs should go for spot price X 3.575. Spot's at $28.53 right now so that = $102/roll.

Great thanks for the information. One more question. What are the chances of finding them in regular rolls of dimes? Worth a shot or waste of time?

roll searching and finding a merc...... better then the lottery. Not likely, but better then the lottery.

I personally know there are members in the classifieds that have mercury dimes sorted by date if you are looking for particular year/mintmarks. All you need to do is click on classifieds, on the right hand side type in mercury under "text" and see what comes up. ;) The search feature is very useful on this site.

    Happy Hunting!

I've found just shy of a roll full of Merc dimes via roll searching.

I've looked through north of $30k in dimes.

    Half came from one box.

Take what you want from that.
