My favorite coin is a 2001-D Kennedy with the Reverse clad layer missing. It was the first error coin that I ever got from the Mint and it cost me 68c. There are only two known for this date/mintmark.

My favorite American medal is the 1969 ANA Convention 3-medal set struck in both silver and bronze. When I spotted this rendition of the Libertas Americana on eBay in 2005, I placed a max bid of $150. I really wanted it and I thought my bid would win, but I was beat out by a last-second snipe at $152.50. About two weeks later, one of my friends on the NGC forums informed me that another had surfaced on eBay. This time, I placed a max bid of $250 (via Bidnapper) expecting that it would be sufficient to guarantee a win. When the auction ended, I was the winner at $48. I saved $102 by losing the first one. The 3-medal sets for the ANA Conventions were only produced 1969-1982, and I decided to go after the entire 14-set series. I was able to get 12 of the remaining sets, 1970-1980 & 1982 within just a few months, but the 1981 proved to be very elusive. Even contacts with other ANA collectors, even the ANA itself, proved fruitless. Finally, almost 5 years later, the 1981 surfaced on eBay, and before any bids were placed, I contacted the seller and "made him an offer that he couldn't refuse". So, I now have the complete 3-medal series, and I will eventually submit them to NGC for grading & encapsulation.

I realize this is probably more information than you need, and I hope you don't mind me telling this story.

I like the look of that half dollar. How did it cost you $0.68?

My favorite is this 1912 British Penny.

Why is such a relatively worthless coin my favorite?

Because I want to hear all its stories. How did a coin THIS old, THIS worn from who knows how many thousands of transactions, wind up on the other side of an OCEAN, in a roll of half dollars bearing the likeness of a former president who wasn't even BORN when it was minted???

The US Mint hasn't released half dollars into circulation since 2000. In 2004, they decided to release the 2001 Kennedy in a $100 Mixed P&D bag for $135 or 67.5c per coin.

    These two:

The first is a stone mountain I found roll searching.

The second is a reeded edge that was a gift from my grandmother.

If I have to pick just one its the one in my avatar, the 1982- DDR. Its the only coin in my collection that I would have to be about to lose my house before I would sell it.

My favorite is my 2007-W 1/4 oz AGB. It's just about the same size as a buffalo nickel, but in 24k gold!!! Mine is the uncirculated which I like better than the proof coin, but not by much. :)

Thats a tough one for me. If I had to choose it would be between the Chalmers Shilling Short Worm and the Washington Funeral Urn Medal in silver from the famous LaRiviere Collection.
