If they are 50 over melt I will definitely want one, I callate that would be about 180 or so. I think that would be about the upper limit right now.
If these don't come in well under $200/ea, the demand will be limited. There's a guy over at CU Forums that's buying a monster box of them!
Big silver, bigger price. Expect the sellers to set a confiscatory price, squeezing us for all they can. Cannot blame them, though. These are the holy grail of current coin collecting. No heresy intended, folks. Expect these at Christmas, so the mint can limit sales of them. That'll keep price down, and put a glow on a new product. That's good for the Mint folks, crimps our style some. I cannot wait to get some. Price be dogged.:thumb:
They are being released on 12/6/10 in much smaller mintages. Here is a link: http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/america-beautiful-silver-bullion-coins.html TC
Thanks TC! Going to be real hard for those wanting these bullion versions to try to get them off the bullion dealer market. If the mintages are this low the Mint should have just handled the release and orders. I can't imagine quality is going to attended to passing through so many hands of bullion dealers. Premiums in the secondary market will be VERY interesting to watch on these. And very interesting that numismatic versions will be out in 2011 as well.
TC!!! You were really on top of that! I had just checked an hour before you posted and hadn't found anything. Yep, this is gonna be very interesting Chris, but it will be hard to top the UHC gold fiasco. Chuck
Excellent news - thanks! So if I am reading everything correctly the dealers are paying roughly $150 per coin with silver at $28.44 an oz. What do you think they are going to sell for? At $200 a pop I'm a buyer, any more then that will be tough but knowing the mintage is more limited then anticipated i may go to $250 but i'd be ****ed about it
based on $28.44 an ounce. my guess is that the collector's version will cost us around $229.95 each. and the bullion one will be around $20.00 over spot or $162.20 each. mintage for collector's version is 33,000 each for 2010 and 27,000 each for 2011. the bullion version will have no maximum limit.
Get your set for only $1395??!?!?!?! Let the crack smoking begin! http://www.apmex.com/Product/59810/2010_5_oz_America_the_Beautiful_5_Coin_Sets____Unc_Dec_17th.aspx
That they may not sell the single coins, but bundle them into groups of five: bummer. I didn't see this coming. I was so hoping to get one Yellowstone coin, memories ya know! The five coins from apmex is $1395 25 ounces of ASE bullion is about $840 ($33.62X25) (apmex) Sigh Jon
Call that $1395 price "supply and demand" or "cry now or cry later." I doubt that Apmex will have much of a problem selling these out at $1395. What happens in the secondary market is another question, but you might want to think back on the 1995 10th Anniversary American Eagle Proof Set.
I'm eager to hear reviews from whomever gets these delivered first. Especially whether they're just enlargements of the smaller design or whether they have more detail.
I just received a call from Gainsville, who is offering the five coin set for $1500, which should yield Gainsville a $760, 97%+ profit on each set sold. Shame on the US Mint for allowing their bullion distributors to abuse the public. If this isn't criminal behavior it should be made a crime. This just ain't right. IMHO
i got the call earlier and they offered me the set for $2195! i've only bought from them once or twice in the past, and i signed up for the pre-order notification on friday night after seeing apmex's $1395 price. interesting how they're offering it at different prices to each of us.
Even @$30/oz the bullion coins cost the dealers less than $160 and they have the ..... to ask between $300 - $400/ coin. I hope some of you are sending emails to the US Treasury complaining about these abusive price gouging tactics of the bullion dealers.
