I have a 1922 peace dollar that i just finally got back from ANACS today and i really need help identifing the VAM!! I believe it's a VAM 2BD, but not positive because the extra ray on the wing isnt as long as the VAM 2BD that they show pictures of and they call it the "Long Spike Eagle’s Shoulder #4" and because it says long, it makes me think there is a short...??? Any help would be GREAT!! Also anyone have an idea on a price? It gradded out as MS-60 cleaned via ANACS....

Hard to tell from the pics. The clash on Vam 2DB looks a lot closer to the ray than on your coin. Have you checked out the clash ID page? - 1922-P Clashed Die Attribution Vam 41A looks the closest, is the second clash there?

No second clash, just the one thats visable in the picture. I checked the Vam clash ID page and didnt see anything that was exact or very close to mine... 41A is close, but once again there's only one ray and it's clearly a single ray, and there's no doubling on the olive branch or the talon...

I'm puzzled. I had it graded but they didnt put the attribute on there because i didnt know what Vam it was when i dropped it off. They said they would reslab it for $10 if i could figure out the Vam.

It's worth melt value (the value of the silver)
1922 is a common year and unless in high unc. Grades it's not worth getting slabbed.

I know it's worth about $25 bucks, but i was curious if the vam error added any value?

I had it slabbed in hopes of them figuring out the Vam and putting it on the slab (which didnt happen)....

Considering the grade, and the fact it isn't a VAM in the Top 50, I don't think there would be any premium.

    Doesn't seem like it.
At this point this coin is a money pit, your better off with a BU non-1921 Morgan.

I really dont plan on selling it, i'm a fan of error or abnormal coins. So im good with holding onto it until silver hits 50 bucks! Might not ever happen, but if it does i'll make my money back!

As long as your happy with it, then it's all good.
I don't recomend the extra $10 VAM attribute though

You should be aware that none of the grading services will attribute a VAM unless you check the appropriate box and pay the additional fee. ANACS does attribute all VAM's, so you should have requested the service on your original submission. Now, it will cost you more for shipping and insurance, and I don't know if it will be worth the effort.

Actually i dont have to pay for the insurance and shipping charges, as they are close by me and are willing to allow me to drop my coins off at their lobby... But i think i'll just keep it as it is and put a little sticky on the coin that says the Vam that i believe it is. If in the future they run a special or something maybe i'll resubmit the coin.

On a side note anyone have any suggestions on grading services to avoid? And any suggestions on who you prefer as far as grading companies go (ones without yearly memberships)?

    Thanks for all the help!
