Found this coin today looking through some halfs I got at the bank. WE TRUST is strongly doubled any idea as to its value. Thanks, Ben
Nice find Ben...looks like a CONECA listed 64D DDO-001, DMR-3. The PUP for the 001 are, strong spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, date, LI and TY of LIBERTY, designer's initials, and hair on the back of the head. The reverse is a RDV-002 (flared G). There are two listed markers (see attached photos): die scratch southeast through hair just below R of LIBERTY, and die scratch from upper T of LIBERTY north to rim with shorter die scratch parallel and below it. The one 1 have does not have either of the marks pictured above. The 9 in the date is very easy to see the doubling on, the 164 are a little harder to see but there. The letters in L I B E R T Y with the R being the hardest to see are all doubled as is IN GOD. I have posted a few more pics. Thanks for the help.
Ben...all your photos look like the 64D DDO-001, yours must be an earlier die state with out the markers. What about the 64, here is some photos of my DDO-001. Larry Nienaber
Here is the 64. Looks like the coin you have is in great shape!!!! Nice pics too I have a rough time getting good pics with my camera and mag. glass
Ben...I ment to say in my last post that yours must be a later die state, not an ealier die state, with out the markers. When you are taking photos try tilting the coin towards the light, I use an 1/8 inch spacer for that. I think you half is a 64D DDO-001, LMDS. Larry Nienaber
Hi, I agree, 64D DDO-001 Nice coin!! For some of the new people, that's the kind of notching , grooves and split serifs to look for on true die doubling. Notr it looks like duplication of the original leteering and it is rounded. It is not flat like mechanical doubling. Have Fun, Bill
