OBV is definitely better than the REV. I'll go with AU-53 just because with the removal of the Rev substance this coin could glow.

Just a question. Why do you guys think it is not over AU-50.Is it because of the substance on the reverse or something else?I would think it could go AU-53. B12

I think that taking pictures of coins and posting them on the computer takes away some of the coins lust and true condition and beauty.
I would say that there hair and other parts of the OBV. are AU-55 but the reverse lacks a little bit more on some of the wings and the lower portion of the coin seems to be worn to an AU-50; plus the substance.
Making a grand total an average of AU-53.
Again this is just my synopsis of how I judged the coin.

The substance on the back appears to be dark toning and nothing more. But as to grade, keep in mind that eye appeal is a large part of it. That toning on the reverse is rather unsightly IMO and thus would keep the coin from being graded higher than it otherwise might be. But I will say I could agree with you - AU53.
