Hello, I`m from Europe and I`d like to start collecting Silver Eagles. Where can I buy this coins ? I`m not interested in high quality, I`m interested in the silver, so price should be as near as possiblet at silver price. Best Regards, Hermann from Austria
I would try mintproducts.com. I'm not sure you will get a better deal on Ebay because a lot of people can't, won't, or will overprice the shipping to Europe. You will also probably get a very nice coin even though that isn't your primary motivation.
Shipping things like silver isn't ever going to be cheap because well... it's silver. Metal. Each 1 ounce. Just 16 of them bring you up to a pound and there's just not going to be a cheap way to send pounds of silver across the pond. If you really just want silver, I'm not sure that it wouldn't be better just to get local silver, bullion bars, etc.
Hi, So I´ve found out that Maple Leafs are cheaper than Silver Eagles. Problem is, that there are no silver bullions from Europe, that have good reselling prices. Of course I could collect any medals amde out of 999 silver, but if they are not well known, it is a problem to sell them, even at silver price. Back to the shipping costs... Here in Austria I can buy one maple leaf 2003 for 9,48 Euro, at mintproducts.com I get one if I take 20 any year for 8,78 Euro. This is a difference of 14 Euro. So I`ll aks at mintproducts.com how much shipping will be.... Best Regards, Hermann
Hi, are you shure they still produce it? I`ve searched the Austrian Mint`s website, but couldn`t find it... Best Regards, Hermann
Yup, they still do. Here is the main site - http://www.austrian-mint.com Once there click on - Our Products - then click on Historical Treasures - then click on Maria Theresa Taler. I'm not sure if the mint sells these direct to individuals, but in the Our Products page they provide a link titled - Where To Buy - click on that.
Try the UK Brittania, then from Australia there are the Kangaroo, Kookobura and the Chinese new year set :kewl: You can find them all on ebay along with variations such as Holograme. Colorized, Blued, Privy Marks all in all lots to collect. De Orc Ps Forgot the Chinese Panda LOL
Hi, The Maria Thersia - Taler consists just 1/3 of silver. So I don`t know if this would be a good coin for collection. And next problem is that they don`t say a price. I think it costs much more than the silver value (of course, they earn money), but it is very difficult to sell this coins again. @ De Orc: all coins you named are more expensive than the maple leaf.... Best Regards, Hermann
Herman you need to take into account the shipping costs, if as you say you are based in Europe then buying from a European source will be cheaper then US or Canadien, I dont know how much you have seen Maples at but I have just bought Australia- 1997 1 oz PURE Silver Kookaburra for £9 including shipping from Australia have seen some cheaper from Germany on the Bay you just have to hunt around. If you are just after silver then look at some of the art bars n stuff as well. De Orc
Hi, Kookaburra is at ebay here between 9 and 13 Euro without shipping. this are 11,16 to 16,12 USD. What 9 £ in USD or € ? ... Best Regards, Hermann
Here we go Herman also try looking at Chard for Bullion http://www.chards.co.uk/coins one downside with them is you have to pay cash or cheque. £9 = aprox 13.14 e 18,52 $Cn 21.16 $Au 15.94 $US All the best with your quest :thumb: De Orc :kewl:
If you are just interested in collecting Silver bullion, then the Canadian Silver Maple Leafs are the best investment! Besides being cheaper than the American Silver Eagles, they are the purest Silver coin minted! Frank
You can also buy the most current proof silver eagles directly from the mint at http://www.usmint.gov . The 2005 is sold out I believe but they will be selling the 2006 soon. You can also buy the gold and platinum ones here.
I don't have the specifics handy, but yes a troy ounce is heavier that the ounces that most other things are weighed in (forget the specific name at the moment); however a troy pound weighs less, because there are only 12 troy ounces to a troy pound.
