I have a Sacajawea coin that has about 1/4 of it cut off--I assume during the minting process. I am not a coin person so don't even know what it's called when that happens.

    Is this coin worth anything?

    Welcome to Coin Talk!

    Can you post a pic?

Is a 1/4 of the coin gone or is it the image that's missing?

Looks like a nice clip. Any chance of closer or bigger pics?

It's called a clipped planchet. Nice error, probably worth a couple hundred or so if it's not post-mint damage.

    Where did you find it?

Experts would the clipped end be coated? I thought these have a coating or are they just an alloy?

In a roll of coins in 2000

When the coins first came out, my dad bought each of us a roll of Sac. dollars. This was one of them! Have kept it in a safe box since had no idea what it was worth (if anything). Just remembered it the other day!

They are a clad composition like the dimes, quarters, and halves. But the outer layers on the dollar are a manganese brass rather than copper nickel and the brass is very similar in color to that of the pure copper core.
