I'd really like to set up a website where I can display my collection. It'd be nice to show individual panes with some text underneath. Not only would it be easier for me to view my collection seeing as I work all the time, but I could share it with my dad, who lives 1000 miles away. I've seen many people with pictures on a website, but these seem to be mostly just the regular photo sharing sites like photobucket. Anyone know of something that would allow you to lay it out like a collection display?
We all have our favorites perhaps based on what we understand how to do. Mine is PBase. It is not free ($23/year) but comes with a lot of space and tools to customize what you want. They have stylesheets that can be used to fancy up the pages but the option exists for you to write in HTML code and turn of their automatic formatting. The offer a special Blog mode as well as the Original which defaults to rows of thumbnails meant mostly to show off your photos. The site is intended for use by photo hobbyists but can be manipulated however you wish. http://www.pbase.com/dougsmit/coins I rarely use the blog mode and never put much into the page layout tools required to make full use of the site but this will give an idea of some defaults. I might add that I like black pages but the site allows you to select what you want if your tastes run lighter or more colorful. http://www.pbase.com/dougsmit/coincombo
Here is mine: Vette Set I strongly suggest hosting your own site. I will be at the Houston show, table 223 of you have questions. Do you use a MAC or PC?
One could always start their own free site at a number of websites. Of course, there is limited capability of a free site, but they can make for nice galleries and even stores. http://www.webs.com/ The above site is one I used off and on for a while. I was going to start up my own web-store and keep my already existing gallery on the site. The idea fell through, but I did like the gallery that the site can provide.
