I know nothing about these, except that I didn't have one. So I bought this one today for $10. Was that a good deal? Is this pretty decent? Is that a die break on the obverse at 8 oclock or is it pmd?

I'd buy one in that condition/year for 10 bucks in an instant!

The one i got was for $11 was also from 1865, but although it shows slightly more rust, the details are full.
My guess is that this one should be around $7-8 according to "eBay prices" scale, due to wear, PMD at 8 oclock (which looks very fresh) and non-harsh cleaning.

Well Im glad I am in the ballpark for pricing. The pillars on the reverse have much more detail than most I saw for under $20.

So that is for sure PMD on the obverse?
