    Hi forum,

First time poster. I've followed this forum for a while as I've always been interested in coins. I finally decided to register as I am a little stumped on what to do and was hoping you guys could help with your knowledge.

I have a Gold Coin bracelet. It has 7 US 1/10th American Eagle coins set into a 22K Gold coin bezel bracelet. I had it made for my wife about 10 years ago. At that time the bracelet wasn't very expensive and the coins were given to me by family. So total cost to me was minimal.

The dates of the coins range from 93 to 97 (can't make out all the dates...eyes getting old). Anyways, my wife doesn't like it and so i thought I'd take advantage of the high price of gold and sell this bracelet as it's just been sitting around for 10 years. I priced it at $1,900 but wasn't sure if I am pricing it too high, too low or just right. What do you guys think? I've taken it to a jeweler and he quoted me $980. But even I knew that was too low.

BTW, the coins were brand new before mounting, and the total bracelet/coins weigh 38 grams.

Here's a pic. Thanks in advance.

Melt value is about 1800... I'd sell it for 1500 and be happy.

$980 is basically the value of the coins. The 1/10 ounce Eagles weigh 3.393 grams each, so the weight of the bracelet without the coins is approximately 14 grams. Since that gold is 22K, the weight of the actual non-coin gold is about 13 grams, or about 4/10 ounce. At today's prices, that would be a little more than $500. So the $1500 quoted by the other posters seems reasonable (assuming that the 22K gold is marked as such).

Melt value is around 1500, but Macy's would list it for $2,500 or better. $1,900 is not unreasonable. It also gives you some wiggle room.

I figure the jeweler offered you about 1/2 of what he could sell it for quickly. Put it on eBay with a start bid of $1200 and let the bidders take it wherever it lands. I have the best luck with old jewelry that way. High enough start bid to not lose money and low enough to generate interest, seems to be the key.

If you aren't in a hurry to sell the bracelet, why not sell it on ebay? You most likely would get more than a dealer would offer, I can guaranty that. Too bad I'm not a woman, or I'd buy the bracelet for myself! It is very lovely.
