Hello everyone!I want to ask this question and not violate the policy but I'm looking for a well established site that sells coins that are not too expensive.Maybe between 50-250 dollars.I'm new to collecting so I'm starting off small then work my way up.Thanks everyone!

Apmex.com is a great site to start with. Try collecting something like ASE or maple leaf coins with privy marks to start with! they are great fun and easy to collect. Most maple privys can be found on ebay for 20-30$ ive had more fun collecting those than almost anything else. apmex even has a few some times.

Buy a Redbook and some other coin books to read before you buy [or check out the library]. You can lose a whole lot of money buying $50-$250 coins if you don't know what you are doing.

There are a lot of sites that meet that criteria - do you have an idea of what you want to collect? There are some specialty sites for certain coins. Plus the major auction houses - still as mentioned you need to learn some before starting to purchase. It will help prevent you from making some of the mistakes some of us have already made.

eBay.com has tons of coins in that range and is a well-established site.

I second that but just be careful with who you're dealing from because there are a lot of fakes out there but don't let that discourage you, just keep a close eye on everything you bid on ;)

And that is more true than you could possibly imagine.
Oh! and a WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
What your asking is really sort of asking to name an honest used car salesman. Little exageration so you dealer out there, don't have a fit.
Now think of just how many dealers there may be right here on this forum. Or how many may work for a coin store or just a coin dealer on the web. Why you really couln't blame them for saying Hey, we got another one so get out the cleaned coins. :smile
Really, really get to know what your doing with coins or anything you want to purchase. If you do get a Red Book, look through the thing, get to know what you like, go to ebay so you'll know what not to spend, look for coin shows in your area. Have fun, this is a hobby.

There's some good advice already posted. I'll repeat, buy a Red Book (A Guide of United States Coins - 2010 by R S Yeoman), it about $15.00 or so and will be the best money you ever spent. Then read it, cover to cover. At that point you will have some ideas of what you want to collect. Then you can focus on looking at eBay and at coin shows, or other ads to get a feel for what coins in what grades are selling for.

Lots of good into on the internet, especially here at CoinTalk. I'd start with the Numismatic Resources forum. What I'm saying is read and learn, then spend. You'll be glad you did. :smile

I would say that if you are new to collection OR spending $200-$250 on a coin AND buying it on Ebay, then you should definitely only buy a coin slabbed by NGC, PCGS, or ANACS. And let us know what coin you decide on!

kudegras - If you post what types of coins you're interested in you will get specific reputable dealer's names that sell in that area. Your question was too general to get specific responses.
