Go check the pops on on the 2008 PF70 and see what ya get ? I expect you'll find a higher precentage for the Proofs than you did for the Uncs.
It depends on the margin. I don't want to sell 4579 anythings @ $130 if they cost $140 each. But I understand your point in this case, and it's well made.
Are these the same numbers you saw ? The ANACS site can be a bit quirky... 64 - 3 65 - 0 66 - 4 67 - 22 68 - 166 69 - 210 70 - 10 total 315 That works out to about 3.2% 70s, but that's for Bald Eagle commems. I didn't see 2008 Eagle proofs listed, just MS.
All intended to discourage you and make you give up. I'm glad you stuck with it. It's another case of "bait and switch". They talk one thing, show you something different, and ship something else (which more closely matches the talk, not the visual). The talk is characterized by what they don't say; my guess is they never mentioned it was an NGC coin, but rather that it was "professionally certified" - so Brand X fits the bill. That might be the case in this thread. Did the talk specifically mention a 70 coin, or did they just talk talk talk and flash a 70 coin ?
You are right. I realized that some time after making that post. It depends on the unit price that one has sunk into the coins. I made the assumption that the unit price paid for the coins would be considerably less than the asking price in either case.
I guess making more and charging less is the way to go, it get,s more people opening up There wallets!...LOL
I didn't see anything because I never went to look. My point is this - you are quoting the pops for MS70 coins. But the pops for MS70 coins has absolutely nothing to do with how many PF70 coins there are or will be. It is far, far more common to see PF70 coins than it is to see MS70 coins. You can see the same disparity in PCGS and NGC slabs as well - they will have very few MS70's, but lots and lots of PF70's.
I re-watched the show and figured out the Limited Edition thing. It's a First Day of Issue Limited edition. Meczack says in the show that they had to buy 20,000 coins in order to get the 4579. Thing is, if you do the math that means that almost 25% of the coins grade PF-70 so how limited is that actually? Even if ANACS graded as strictly as PCGS, 25% is common by anyone's standards.
