my first roman

    its hard to belive considering i live in a place with some much roman history and that ive collected coins since i was 12 but this is the first roman coin ive owned, i picked it up on saterday. sorry for the picture quality its a scan. any opinions on it would be much appriaciated. the dealer i got it from didnt tell me a huge amount about it either

    Nice one! I can't help with the identification. I'm a newbie to ancients myself. Get yourself a metal detector and hit some of those fields!

    In case you didn't already know this, if I read the coin correctly, it depicts Constantius II, and it was minted in Siscia between 340 and 348 AD. If you can make out the character in front of "SIS" on the reverse exergue, you can know which workshop in the mint made this.

    dont know if im going to collect them now, not yet anyway. but i just wanted one because there is so much roman history where i live i just thought it was logical for me to get one
