I have a question about this penny

    Okay, so I just found this Penny today. It's blank on the tails side with, no rim on it. On the heads side some of the lettering got taken off because there isn't a rim on that side either. There is a scratch over that date but I can read 1987. It's not in the best condition. I was just wondering if this is common. I can post some pictures if you need me too, i'm just not sure how. Thanks!

    partially struck planchet? meaning half of the striking missing. just guessing

    Looks to be what we call PMD (Post Mint Damage).

    That's a damaged coin. I would spend it.

    I believe you're mistaken on the date. Copper cent - 1981.
    Damaged beyond repair. Spend it - quick!

    Unless you hoard pre-1982 cents for the copper, then this would be a spender.

    I would keep it just for the 2.5c worth of copper
