I am selling a few small things on Ebay and I am amazed how few buyers leave feedback. I am very fast with shipping and I describe the coins accurately. Do any other Ebay coin sellers have this problem?
I find that the majority of buyers leave feedback, but there are some(maybe 10%) that never leave any. Also, sometimes feedback is left weeks after the auction.
When I sell, I include a note with the product saying that feedback is valuable, and please leave feedback when you get the item, and let me know if there are any problems before you leave feedback. Then, I leave my feedback for the buyer a day before I expect them to RECEIVE the product, and say in my feedback "Fast payment, shipped item a few days ago, please let mek now if there are any problems". I used to get a low low rate of FB, but with these two easy steps, I find i get greater than 90%.
In my case I get faster feedback from buyers when I hold out leaving theirs. But still some people just don't leave it. I sold a coin to a guy and miscalculated shipping, sent him a refund for the difference(just a buck) but he still didn't leave me a feedback.
You can always send a polite private message, reminding to leave a feedback. Did it many times, always worked out.
I have never not received " feedback" from a buyer, and it's 100% favorable. I'm retiring my EBAY account that way.
I've been buying and selling on eBay for nearly 6 years now. Leaving FB is always optional and there is nothing you can do to compel someone to leave you FB, however it has been my experience that if you give good customer service and treat people fairly that well over 90% of them are willing to leave you FB. I have a 100% positive FB rating and in my experience the people who don't leave FB are usually newbies who do not yet comprehend eBay's FB system or they are one-time buyers or people who rarely frequent the site who simply don't care about leaving FB or simply forget to do so. It's usually not an evil act, just laziness or ignorance. I presently have 623 feedbacks, but have probably participated in more than 900 transactions. That's just the way it is on eBay. Also, since the change in the FB rules last year, there is simply less incentive to participate in the FB system now that it is all one-sided and weighted in favor of the buyer. Sellers can no longer leave negative FB for buyers who fail to behave ethically. This has soured at lot of eBay old-timers and many have ceased leaving FB as a form of protest against the corruption of eBay's FB system.
I've been selling other things than coins but I find most people leave me feedback, and I always leave feedback for them because I use it as a way to keep track of what items I have received and what I'm still waiting for. It will say "three items awaiting feedback" and that tells me I'm still waiting for three items. On the other hand, I've recently sold a lot of books on Amazon used (mostly to fund my coin habit) and I have found very few people leave feedback on there, which is annoying because unlike eBay I have a low number of feebacks on Amazon and I'd like to build them up so I don't look like a rookie. Probably 20 percent leave feedback on Amazon, and Amazon even sends people a reminder email after a certain amount of time.
I am a buyer on Ebay and these are my stats 10,970 Left for others and 10,447 Feedback received now what does that tell you LOL I find some sellers fail to leave feedback You can see it works both ways some buyers are lazy/coudnt care but also some sellers are Lazy/coudnt care
The only time I don't leave feedback is as a seller, when it would have been negative if I could leave it. Like the jerk where I made an honest mistake (sent him a clad rather than a silver proof set, on a day where I was packing and shipping a bunch of them). Totally by accident. He contacts me through the eBay system, then TWO MINUTES LATER files a Case against me, before I could even reply to his contact. The Case says "No response from seller, no resolution, hasn't attempted anything" blah blah blah. Of course I emailed him IMMEDIATELY, as I was going to anyway, told him it was a simple error, I would send the replacement immediately, which I did (Signature Required), he returned the clad set, I refunded his return postage and of course ended up paying postage for three shipments. We ended up OK, but I never left him feedback. Opening a case before even waiting for a reply puts him forever on the Jerk List, and he is blocked from ever bidding on my stuff again. Now I feel better. You can't even VENT on eBay!
Some folks expect miricles and when they dont happen instantly get peeved LOL I honestly dont understand why they removed the right of a seller to defend themselfs
eBay has a maximum shipping fee of $3.99 for books. I once sent a very heavy volume that cost me $4.70 to ship. Yet the buyer gave me less than 4 stars for the shipping costs. I guess that even if I though I lost the 71c, it wasn't good enough for him ? lol Whenever I see a negative feedback on a seller, I take the time to read it. Some buyers cannot be satisfied no matter what.
Well - an honest seller who leaves me feedback, gets feedback after I receive the item and it checks out. I can understand why honest, good sellers have problems with dishonest buyers - but that is the risk you run selling on ebay. I buy so little on ebay I really don't worry too much about receiving ebay - I have one open now that the seller has not left me feedback.
Honestly, I have had pretty good luck both ways on eBay. The only problems I ever had were what I thought was a deception in a listing and my printer freezing when I tried to print my postage through the eBay page. Where else can we trade the small stuff ? So far I think it's a pretty good thing, but I have avoided people who wanted to pay by check or ways other than PayPal. Fees are fees. You pay the commissions for the use, which is honest enough. No such thing as a free lunch. gary
I had a guy in Puerto Rico buy a strategy guide for a video game for two dollars. I marked it sent the next day. Three days later he complains he hasn't received it yet. Ten minutes later there was a case against me. I emailed him explaining it's only been three days. He must not have understood English because I could barely read his response. He was very rude, demanding a refund. I gave him a refund rather than arguing about two dollars. I also wrote him back. I told him when (not if) he gets the book, to keep it. That was three months ago. Yesterday I get a positive feedback from him. People are weird. They don't mind threatening you with negative feedback when they aren't satisfied, but they won't give you a positive for the life of them. My daughter sold 40 dollars worth of Pokemon action figures for one cent and free shipping. This lady bought them for her kid. She contacted me, threatening to give me a negative feedback because the toys were a little dirty. I emailed her, told her they were sold as-is, and I lost money because I paid for postage. She was very rude, but two months later I got a positive feedback from her. People are nuts. I never leave feedback until I hear from them first. When I buy, I look at the seller's feedbacks and read the gray and red ones. What kills me is that I'll see a red mark, and the comment will say something like "Great deal. A1 ebayer."
