Send a letter like this to your local congressman/woman
Next let's cross our fingers and begin designing new circulating coins.
Post your designs here, we will (once we get enough congress representatives backing us) perform a poll voting on the best designs and send them to our local representative.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you get a response from your local congress representative, post it in this thread.

The worst that will happen is a "NO" and a bunch of cool new designs for coinage :)

What do ya say, are you in??

Please also promote the petition on your social networking website of choice, if we get enough signatures we might get this to pass.

And more importantly if you have any suggestions feel free to post them here

I applaud the effort you have put forth in this regard. I have to think on this before putting my name to it. I'm somewhat ambivalent at this time. Is this not why we have the citizens advisory panel ? I think we need to do what needs to be done, to get them to do the duty they are charged with, and to also let them know our dissatisfaction with their work.http://www.ccac.gov/aboutUs/bio_bolgerDoreen.cfm

The CCAC is here link. I am in favor of the concept, but the CCAC exists already and the gov't listens to them despite the junk they consistently deliver. They collaborate with the CFA link to advise the Mint on what designs to use for new coinage.

Indeed, hopefully we will get more supporters for our cause. Only two signatures on the petition so far.

Let's get rid of the dead people on our money. Why can't we have things like the Educational Notes, Walker Halves, Mercs and the like. These were art you could carry in your pocket! I definitely don't like the current Jefferson on the nickel. He looks like lightning bolts are about to shoot from his eyes!

I'll vote for a Walker Half dollars and mercury dimes, in fact I'd be happy if the simply issued coins from 1960! Hell they can even remove the silver! I'm just sayin'!!

Hmm goes back to my original topic "What would it take to bring back the mercury dime"

The fact is that US and most of the world coins are designed by graphic artists who learn and study two dimention work in stead of sculpturers who mastered the art of making three dimention work !

tlasch - if you care to take the time you might want to try researching - "Time For A Change In Our Change". It might save you a lot of work and effort and show you what worked in the past.

edit - one thing, be careful what you ask for because you just might get it ;)

Hey, I'm all about recycling, but I think someone in this country can come up with a fresh, new, exciting design. Heck, I bet someone who posts on Cointalk could come up with a worthy design for one of our denominations.
