It was worth a 100 times that in advertising for the guy ! When somebody does it and nobody knows who it was that did it - THAT is worth noticing. This - eh ?
Boy talk about self advertisement there's prob countless people who donate A LOT more then $1,500 who don't take any recognition.
Spam all the way around! While I commend somebody for donating to a good cause this article doesn't quite pass the smell test. Did they have to put a link to the dealers website in the first sentence?
I was just about to add that to my post . God I hate things like this, think about how many people do things for others and take absolutely no recognition. I mean this guy does one donation and BAM publicity. The average joe opening a door every day for an elderly person or someone going out of there way to help someone to me is worth 10x more then this.
What a misquote from the Bible. She did NOT put in all she could afford. She gave of her sustenance. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” I think someone needs to go back to the basics.
Oh, come on now. I bet if any one of us here did the same thing and had a pic to back it up, it would be posted here within the hour. So, whats the difference? If this amounts to nothing, what is everyone else here doing to make a difference that is of greater importance? Guy
I could not agree more. While it was a nice gesture, it was also totally self serving. A measly $1400 and he gets advertising worth MILLIONS!
I give the guy credit, I won't be able to afford what he donated. But, I still admire the "mysterious" gold coins that just show up when they empty the red kettles. No pictures in the paper, no publicity, no advertizements.
Every year there are many people who do this anonymously and I greatly respect that. Someone doing it as a publicity stunt and then being able to get a tax deduction for it does not impress me so much.
