Not sure how many of the CoinTalkers are in the SoCal area, but if you do, try out the San Diego Coin and Bullion Co on Clairemont Mesa Road. Have been in there 3 times this month and it is always packed with Bullion Buyers and Sellers. However, the last two times, they recognized me and know that I am a coin buyer and have gone out of their way to make sure I am taken care of. I think they know those customers will be gone with the PM market, but I will come back if happy. Not a ton of coins, but the coins they do have are fairly reasonable and very nice. Great bunch of folks and I highly recommend them. Was very impressed how they handled two different customers with honesty and integrity. One was a guy who bought a bunch of gold coins from one of those Glenn Beck companies. The other was a grandma that was guying state coins for her grandkids and she asked about if they had released any this year. They said the National Park series and hooked her up at crazy LOW price for the 3 that have been released and really worked with her to find what she wanted to get them. Was very impressed. Have been in the Olde Coin Shop in San Dog the last couple of months and won't be going back - they are bullion 1st and coin last. Kicked me out the last time so they could close at 3:00 pm. Anyone know any other sellers in San Diego that are good?
Carlsbad Village Coins in North San Diego County not a lot of bullion in the cases, but they will order you what you need. Very honest dealer
Nice thread to read. All too often, all we hear about is the dealers with whom we've had negative experiences with. Can anyone recommend some dealers on the web that are honest, has good service, and keep their prices reasonable?
I second this call. Great dealer who is honest, fair and will go out of their way to get you the coins you want.
Cringely and RaceB - thanks...hadn't heard of Carlsbad Village. Gonna take a drive up there soon and check it out. I am working on a type set and will be good to look at an inventory I haven't seen. thanks!
I go to the Clairemont shop when I'm back in town. I managed to put away enough for another rifle or a nice coin from there around December. I'm thinking coin this year. I second the fair and professional atmosphere. I was even told to hang onto a few coins because the premium wasn't high enough in today's market for me to get a price over the spot price of silver. I always look out for nice coins from Great Britain when I'm there.
Mark your calendar for the Heartland Club show on Dec. 11th in La Mesa. Nicest show, even though small. Home pies and snacks are A-1 !! Jim
Anyone have any further details on the Heartland Club show? It doesn't show up on the coinshow website. I keep looking and will certainly go. I transferred to San Diego with the military the same week as Coinfest...was bummed! Any specific info on the Heartland would be appreciated. Thanks!
http://www.heartlandcoinclub.com/shows.html When Heartland (Dec 11) draws near, it might be nice to get all us CoinTalkers together for lunch. What do you think?
I'm game for lunch...will give me 2 hours after the doors open to look - will be ready for a break by then.
We could have lunch right there, there will be food and drinks available. I'll be there. How about it? This is on May 17th (2014).
