Yeah I collected all this in about a year or so. I also have a bunch of slabbed coins to sell. Can someone help me with the foreign coins. Do they contain silver/do they have any significant numismatic value. I'll be trying to find some info on my own. Canadian .10 1968 x3 1965 1964 1960 1954 .25 1968 Netherlands .10 1965 Argentina .10 1951
Canada .10 are 80% silver from 1966 and before. 1968 were made both in 50% silver or in Nickel (the way to tell the difference is that the nickel ones are magnetic) Same goes for the 1968 Canadian Quarter. All the rest of the foreign you mentioned are either nickel or copper-nickel. No numismatic value to any of them IMO

Doesn't your post leave this bit of information out? You're not ever going to get an answer to a question like that. And it wouldn't matter if the coins were slabbed or raw. For raw coins, no dealer is ever going to trust that a collector knows how to grade. Pretty much the same for slabbed coins too because many dealers have the same opinion of the TPGs that I do - that they over-grade too often these days. So in every case the dealer is going to want to see the coins in person before he will ever make an offer or give an approximate estimate of value. And never expect to get retail values either. The best you can hope for is about 20% back of Bid for accurately graded coins.
Several posts have been deleted from this thread because it was turning into more of a BST post than one asking for help on possible venues. You guys have got to be careful making posts like this - it's too hard to judge where to draw the line on wat to allow and what not to allow. Lately, there have been a lot of posts like this. And I always try to be lenient and give the benefit of the doubt to those posting. But I'm tellin ya folks - it's gettin out of hand. I'm not trying to single you out here Zack, more trying to let everyone know that I am going to be more strict from now on and will instruct the other mods to be more strict as well regarding these types of posts. If you want to ask help on how to go about selling your collection by all means do so. Feel free to ask about what venues to use. But any posts that list specific coins or lists or coins in threads like that will be deleted from here on out !
Terribly sorry about the lists, I only posted them so they could see they were common coins I figured I could only expect melt if I were to sell them to a dealer. As far as the slabbed coins I guess my question would have just been, should I just list these on eBay and hope for the best.
It's not really your fault Zack, it's my fault. I always try to allow our members to seek help any way they can. That includes threads like this. But it's a fine line to walk as to what to allow and what not to allow. But when members start posting lists of specific coins it becomes more of a BST (Buy Sell Trade) thread than one asking for help on how to sell stuff. I deleted several posts where other members were making offers to buy your coins whether that was your intention or not. And every thread like that that is read encourages others to do the same. So this is an entreaty to all of you here on Coin Talk to be very careful on how you word your posts when asking for help selling something ! I don't like to delete threads or posts, but the rules regarding self promotion must be maintained or this place will be turned into something that none of us want.
Yeah terrible spot for you and I completely agree about how you word the posts, I ended up with someone asking what I was looking for and that was my last intention of the thread. I figure if anyone had interest they would have just messaged me. Out of curiosity any chance of the "OPEN" section coming back?!?
Oddly enough, I'm only 21 and I had a job from August 2009-2010 and was making extremely good money for a full time student. That being said the only reason I really found interest in silver coins was for me to invest my money so I wouldn't spend it. I tried putting that in my savings account but that didn't work out to well. Long story short, I lost my job and now I'm stuck having to pay for school etc. I'm not selling everything off just a large majority of coins I can go without.
Does the grass still grow where you live? For each lawn you clip, you could hold on to about 1 oz. of silver. Just an idea. Also, organizing someones garage is another fun way to earn a little extra dough. Good luck!
Good news, I was able to come to a deal with the dealer, I actually purchased most of my coins from him. I was pleased with the offer I received and I think I made some money. I sold off the morgans/peace/franklins/misc. silver coins. Well this completes the thread, edited Thanks -Zach
