I am looking to buy a 1988 RDV-006, but I can't find the value. Anybody have it? Thanks, Coinmaster1.
They make decaf, y'know. Usually when I make a thread, I don't expect answers for a day or two. Post #11 in this thread has some values: http://www.cointalk.com/t122885/
I have one. I believe it is one of the 2 listed in the current ANACS pop report that are AU55. Currently, they don't show any graded higher. There are only 10 known that I can find. 5 are held by a collector in NC who has no desire to sell. These are extremely hard to find and considered scarce. The other collectors that I was able to contact had absolutely no interest in selling. Everyone who has one seems to believe they will never get another one.
I reread your original post and realized that you are looking for the more common Philly. Sorry. gary
You'd have to talk to someone and make an offer, and keep making offers until you hit a point they'd sell at. For most people, I figure that'd be north of 4 figures, maybe even north of 5.
I want one, and I posted an ad in the classifieds here. I also checked eBay and found one that ends in four days. It is at like $6 right now.
I am keeping mine as I believe it is a minimum 5 figure coin. Each week that goes by seems to substantiate that. I believe it the key to the LMC set and possibly much rarer than the 1992 D CAM. Which is being found on occasion. I subscribe to the theory that the transition at the Denver mint was made in a short time period and possibly only a few of each was minted while the obverse dies were being unpacked and placed in the stamping machines. The reverse dies being inserted first, of course. After seeing coins of similiar rarity sold at the last Heritage auction for well in excess of 6 figures, selling for less than 5 would seem foolhardy to me. It costs absolutely nothing to let the slab sit in the vault.
Supply and demand, baby, supply and demand... We'll see what this thing fetches and that'll give us an idea of demand.
Current values - Price ranges for the 1988-P (RDV-006) when available are: AU and Below - $20.00 to $50.00. Mint State (MS) Grades $50.00 and up. MS grades seem to be very hard to find due to the metal problems of the coins for this year. Hope this helps.
Yes the Phillies seem to be around. However, I want to see authentication first. It's easy to take the pic of an 88 and an 89 to post. This seller does not accept a return either.
It seems to me that there are several more being found that I expected, the Philly mint ones I mean. In another year they'll just as scarce as a 1999 WAM. Other coin forums are posting 1988 -006 finds too. So take advantage of the rarity now and get your best price if you arfe selling IMHO.
