I found this in the reject slot of at one of the local coin counters. From what I found on the internet, it looks like a French "Napoleon" coin. Any additional insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
I would say it is a second empire coin dating sometime between 1852 and 1857 Value may be about $8.00 but that's just a guess not exact.
Its either a 1 or 2 or 5 or 10 Centimes depending on size A 2 Cent is roughly the size of a US Quarter and a 10 is the size of a pre decimal British penny It has a "W" mintmark which is from Lille I get hundreds of them, if they are in that condition they go in the smelters bin.
I have a 2 cent. Mine is a XF and is worth between $7-10 dollars. Add it to your collection! They are really nice. cool pick up!
Hmm, a coin like that I would keep. But the one in the first post ... Well, since it was a free find, I would keep it too. I just wonder how it ended up in that reject slot in the first place. Christian
