Hey everyone, I went to the local flea market and picked this up. I think its fake, but for a dollar, its worth the gamble. Even if its fake it sure is cool. What nation is it suppose to be from? Thanks for the info.
I am a novice at these.. but it does not look genuine to me... It looks like a possible cast copy... but don't take that for the gospel... let some of the more experienced guys chime in.
Hey, I think its fake too! But for a dollar, Its not a bad loss. Ya know? if I would have spent $50 I would have been ticked. But still I like it!
I would pay $1 myself regardless of if it is a fake just because it is a nice rendition of what coins use to be Who knows it could be real then cleaned and then plated (Just kidding don't want to get your hopes up, from the image it seems to be fake. Can you post higher res images)
Athenian Owl Tetradrachm, probably a replica, see original examples here. A bust of Athena, goddess of Athens, and the owl of wisdom are depicted. Even if a replica, very nice example to have for the collection as originals run $100+ on average. In fact, some replicas are made of silver. Nice!
When I went to see my dad, I showed him and he got mad "Why waste your money on fakes?" Is it worth more than a dollar? I think it really cool.
