Was at my credit a couple of days ago recycling some LMC's on the new coin machine they have. It stopped working because the few quarters a fed into it filled up the bag. The guy who maintains the machine came and installed a new bag. I asked him if I could buy the bag of quarters and he said he couldn't sell it because it really wasn't that accurate in giving the exact amount because it weighs the bag until it reaches the weight limit set and the dollar value flucuates say + or - two or three dollars.
The machine indicated 20000 on the bar graph screen. I have no idea what that means and never asked. DUMB!
    Latest finds nothing much: 1971-S, 1972-S, 1973-S, 1974-S, and 1942, 1957 Wheat cents.

$500 box of halves. One 40% and a 1980s (both in the same roll) and a possible "no fg". I see a lot of 2001 p's... not sure if they are NIFC. I have had much better luck with CWR and loose recently.

nice going of that pair of '87's. A nice 86 doesn't turn up too often either.

    I wish I knew.

The CoinStar site claims their machines reject silver. But I once came across a guy dumping what appeared to be a jar of silver into one. I stopped him and bought the remainder -- around $25 face, all silver except for a bicentennial half and a few odds and ends -- but the machine had already taken more than $90 according to the receipt. I tell myself that the jar was mixed and the machine only took the clad stuff, but I really wonder.

Someone at a local grocery once told me that people bring them coins the CoinStar rejects, and they put them into the till to go out in change. I'm grooming the customer-service folks to see if I can intercept some of that stream.

I can tell you for certain that some of the machines DO reject silver. I have one of my banks that their machine rejects silver. One of the tellers sets them aside for me when customers cash them in seperately. My sister also works in a cash office at one of the area Walmart's. In the morning when she goes in, she runs each cashier's til through the machine to verify and count the coins. The machine spits out silver coins. She sets them aside and then buys them.

    Weekend report:
    I found 3 CWR's at a bank and they delivered 1 1964, and 7 40%ers.
    Next a box delivered 3 1964s and 4 40%ers

After finding those 15 and feeling good about the fact that maybe the banks in Houston were changing their luck for the better, I went out and got 2 more boxes. Of course, both were skunks bringing me back down to earth. LOL.

Can someone please explain or point me to somewhere that explains where banks get their coins. Just trying to figure out if I get a box of halves from the Chase bank (for instance) near my house, would it make a difference if I got a box from a Chase 20 miles away. Do all of the banks get them from the same place regionally or do different banks get them from different places? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks.
