SHIELD NICKEL- NICELY TONED RARE GEM A blind person can see that this coin is not anywhere near A "GEM" Add to that shipping $6.26Expedited Shipping 7 to 8 days...ha ha ha if he used $4.75 Proirity mail most states 3 to 4 day delivery time. $425 for a nice looking damage "GEM " coin and then wait 8 days to receive it...ya got to love some of the sellers on E bay/ Oh don't try to send this to a TPG it won't grade
to say the least........and you get ripped on shipping too ! What a deal! also notice he sell slab from who knows where they come from Acme grading Co of his basement! LOl got to love it
He also said its rare. Thats true because it's rare to find a scratched, cleaned, and (most likely) artificially toned coin that a seller is trying to pass of as a gem and sell for $400+ plus ridiculous shipping. Other than that, 28,817,000 were minted, plus more than 600 proofs
He states he does not grade coin's , so he should stay away from using professional grading terms until he say's he can grade coins. I would never even consider buying that coin with those photo's and he says he knows how to take pictures. Hmmmmmm I sent the seller a nice little near gem note ! LOL Time to be hitting those report this item button.
this is what gets me about this hobby. how can you trust anyone. i could copy pictures of things and say they are mine. there are just so many fakers out there. jfa
The way you get comfortable trusting people in this hobby, is to know as much about the individual you are about to do business with. Develop relationships with local dealers, coin clubs and some forums as this. Above all, be knowledgeable in the area that you are going to throw your money down on. If you don't trust yourself, why should you trust anyone else.
Even better, check out the amazing deal he has on this MS-68 1946-S Lincoln! Only $43.75? http://cgi.ebay.com/1946-S-LINCOLN-GEM-UNCIR-PENNY-HIGH-QUALITY-COIN-SLAB-/190372241907?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2c5311e1f3
1921-S-MORGAN-SILVER-DOLLAR-LIGHT-TONED-POLISHED-RARITY - this was my favorite. Most of it does not bother me - if people want to over pay for slabbed coins that is their choice(even if SGS, ANI or whatever). Sometimes I wish I had no morals because I could make money on ebay also with junk like this. I can't remember where I was, but a dealer had a box of slabbed modern stuff you could buy for like a dollar each. Most was SGS, ANI crap like this. I could have bought the whole box and sold it on ebay.
The seller also rips people off for shipping. Now with that said USPS Priority mail 3 to 4 day for most of the US is $4.95 he charges $5.01 for expedited shipping 8 days WTH:rollling:! I went over some of his other listing and have reported him for both selling cleaned coins as unc. for shipping charges, and for selling slabs not allowed buy e bay. I hope others have also reported this seller as I hate to see new collectors unaware of problem coins that will not add to their collections.
Sorry, but you are beating you head on a brick wall. There are no slabs "not allowed" by eBay. You can sell any slab desired so long as you follow their rules and he is. See http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/currstamps.html. His shipping is charges are not even close to being excessive (I am speaking from experience). And finally, you may call any coin you want uncirculated. All you are doing is making it more difficult for those of us to report real problems.
What's the big deal ? $4.95 ...$5.01 3-4 day's or 8 days. It is what the seller say's it is. No one is twisting anyone's arms . You don't like the terms, so don't buy. I would hardly call that a rip off . As was pointed out, there are no encapsulated holder's that are being refused by EBAY to list. I don't understand some folks, they cry about penny's and throw $ 4.00 down on a bag of potato chips. This thread and some of the assertions being made are becoming ridiculous .
