In 2 years, England will be hosting the 2012 olympics, and the mint already has some coins for sale. If you read my intro post, I stated that I like Olympic coins. So that's why I'll probaly save $110 USD (89 Euros) for the coin set that has a civillian design submitted collection of 1 coin fro each sport. Is anyone else getting something from London?
I wont be able to. My budget mostly keeps me collecting the circulation coins from countries around the world. I do pick up the occaisional world commem, but not very often, and not for $110. Do post some pics when your able to order
Since you are basically interested in Olympics coins, that set is quite interesting. (I guess you mean the 50 pence pieces; the London 2012 silver coins are more expensive.) And I suppose it will be tough to get all 50p coins from circulation even in the UK. Hard to tell whether the complete set will be worth more some time later; I don't think so. But the idea behind the designs sure is a nice one. What I don't quite understand is the price you mentioned. $110 would be €80 these days. And the Royal Mint wants £85, see http://www.royalmint.com/sportscollection/site/page2.aspx#fullcollection That is about $137 or €100 ... Christian
Well, of course, currrency changes on a daily basis. Let's just hope the economy here in the US gets a whole lot better!
Well, of course, currrency changes on a daily basis. Let's just hope the economy here in the US gets a whole lot better! But then again, it sounds like you have to open the coins out of their case to put in the book. Won't that derive it of it's "mint" value?
