Morgan Dollar Struck Thru Wood.

    I found this coin today while processing a large lot of BU dollars. It appears to have been struck through some sawdust or wood fragments. It is had pieces on both the obverse and reverse. Note the O in ONE on the reverse. Most of the pieces are embedded in the coin but on the back of the cap you can see where a few pieces have come loose and left a depression in the surface of the coin.

    I thought this was neat and wanted to share.

    Pretty cool! Maybe the debris was from barrels that they used to transport the coins.

    I think you misunderstood. I mean that perhaps some wood chips from the barrels (or kegs) may have gotten into the coining press by accident.
