I'd say if your gut is telling you something is wrong then pass. Always go with your gut instinct.

I had no interest in buying this coin, especially after I looked at the coin and the holder. It looks like a lot of wear on the obverse, and there is a big chunk taken out of the holder, and it looks resealed. I'd say this is either a replaced coin, or a fake holder. Any one else think so too?

There are counterfeits for that slab, but this does not appear to be one. It does however appear to be a tampered with slab.

Well, at least the label is genuine. Inputting "2271694" >>here<< confirms an MS66 1882S dollar has that cert number and undoubtedly was in that holder at some time in the past. :(

If the slab is or is not tampered with, I would pass. That just doesn't look like a Morgan I'd pay MS66 money for.

Agreed, if it is an actual 66, it seems to have a really bad strike.

It looks to me like someone took end nipper to one side of the holder, and then later resealed it, probably after placing a junk coin in there.

Is it normal for a coin to be rotated 10-15 degrees in PCGS holders:confused:

In that type of holder, the coins frequently move around. They call it a rattler holder.

I haven't been around here so far this year so I wasn't able to chime in before the auction ended but I don't see anything wrong with that holder. I don't see any cracks and the slab itself looks normal to me for a first generation holder. Where specificly on that holder do you see the problem?

    Let's see.

    Ebay auction. Check.
No return policy stated in auction. Check.
Holder with obvious cracks in it. Check.

    I'd pass on that coin....Mike
