You should always cite your sources...

You must have learned about plagiarism in school, well, copyright is another thing that's very sensitive and necessary to respect. You are after all quoting the work of others and should give them credit for their work, which they own the rights to and they alone can control who can or cannot disseminate that information. Just because its on the web doesn't mean you can freely copy it all over, especially without citing sources.

If you go back and read The Rules of CT (see #5) you may see that proper attribution and use of quoted material, may have avoided your ever having had threads/posts edited on CT for this.

just so long as you get it.

I've noticed a certain somebody always has to be right on this board, even to the point of ludicrous pedantry. It's rather inappropriate for a hobby board.

Hecklers and trolls abound, equally inappropriate for any board, Tex. ;)

Took you six minutes to respond, and you weren't even on line when I posted. I guess you have a lot of ego invested in being the board know-it-all. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it sure comes with a lot of attitude.

Seriously, don't be so quick to judge because it's nothing about ego nor being a know-it-all... and I'm far from claiming any such all-knowing abilities, especially having read and followed rules for citing sources, unlike the OP, I always give credit where credit is due and if I am wrong I can and will admit to that. You may assume I'm not online but that is probably because my status is simply set at invisible so you wouldn't know if I was here or not had I not told you.

You assumed he got the information from the stated source; that assumption is not supported by the evidence. Anybody who knows the supposed mint price and the current value of silver can tell the premium over melt is lower now. Math is not copyrightable. Anyway, you seemed most aggrieved that his post stepped on yours.

This isn't the first time I've seen you behave in a manner some might consider affronting, it's just the first time I commented on it. What you can get away with in Brooklyn might earn you a knuckle sandwich elsewhere, you know?

Tex, I can see that you wish to stand up in the OPs defense here and have now taken a self-righteous tone yourself, doing so with a geographical bias and even bodily threats! How little you know of people and place continues to be demonstrated in your argumentative and misdirected posts. I suggest you get the story and order of events straight before you start threatening people online. What you personally consider an affront from my comments are no more than my being direct and to the point. I don't use smiley icons profusely, so don't read too much into what's not there, especially when I have only been stating facts and rules.

What you are entirely missing here is that before the OP edited the first post (and successive posts), removing all of the 'content', he had at least four paragraphs, word for word un-quoted from that MintNewsBlog article. I assumed nothing. I double checked the source of the content and it was copy-pasted and left unattributed. He only removed that content in this thread AFTER I provided the link to the source online and suggested that he start following CT rules and copyright rules by providing the source for his information. Rather than learn from this he fled.

It could be a coincidence that he read the same article as I posted, and in one way or another he did. However, I find it highly unlikely based on his current course of action that he did anything other than skim the other thread and the link shared there before he started a new thread without providing a source, when he might well have just had a discussion in the thread where he got the link from in the first place. I could care less that he ignored my post but he isn't doing anyone any favors using the written work of others as his own. From what I am seeing, he has little to say and is just creating threads a mile a minute. When challenged he becomes defensive and goes to another thread (or creates one) with the same approach. [Insert smiley icon for confused by the OP]

No threat, just a bit of advice. Not everybody responds pacifically to insults and attitude.

Well then for some proactive advice to those who cannot separate incorrectly perceived 'insults and attitude' from simple black and white text, they ought to rely on facts at hand rather than the violence from their hands to pacify others.
