I purchased the Comet Halley series at an auction this weekend for $97. It is a nice collection that includes four silver coins from Rarities Mint Inc. It comes in a velvet case with a card of authenticity stating that the four coin collection have 4 troy ounzes of fine silver (99.9% pure). Apparently, the set had only 8,000 made in 1986. I checked the internet but found little information on this four coin set. I was able to find a couple of ebay hits for a single coin from this collection. Does anyone know anything about this set? The purchase seemed like a no brainer considering the price of silver and I really liked the look of the set. Plus, I love science.
First of all, are they coins or just silver rounds? If they are coins, what country and denomination?
Thanks Condor; they are silver rounds. I found two of the coins in this collection in the attachment link. The other two coins were from 1986 but not included in the attachd link. Apparently, they are worth $30-$40/each to the right buyer. It is a pretty set. http://www.rivercitycoins.com/silverrounds/space/SpaceSR.html
