I know very little about ancient coins and was wondering if anyone could identify this one for me. I don't even know if it is real or not though it look and feels real to me. It weighs 13.6 grams.
Looks a bit Celtic to me but I can't be sure because of the man/woman sitting on the reverse. Could be early Greek or Roman. It does look real.
www.wildwinds.com is a place you can search. I don't recognize the coin, but the obverse looks like Nike holding wreath and Zeus seated. Greek coins are tough since there are literally hundreds of thousands of types from hundreds or thousands of cities. If you ever find out a city I get get attributions for you as I have the major references. I will look at Plant tonight and see if I can find a clue. Chris
I believe what you have is " Tarsos, Cilicia, c. 1st-2nd Century AD ). The obverse (your second picture) is Tyche seated right on throne without back, holding stalks of grain, river-god "Kydnos swimming right below. The reverse (your left picture) is Zeus enthroned left, Nike in right, long vertical scepter in left. This is a very rare variety by the way and can cost in the near hundred dollar in those conditions. CONGRATS!
