If you order a large amount of half dollars every week, lets say 2 boxes ($1,000) and take out the ones you want and then returned the rest rolled up. Do you have to notify the manager of what u r doing if you do this on a weekly basis and if so, do they get mad at you if you keep doing it?
You don't have to tell them unless they ask why you keep coming in, and they never get mad. ALSO: IF YOU TAKE A COIN FROM A ROLL, AND DON'T REPLACE IT, INFORM THE BANK OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT LEFT IN THE ROLL/ROLLS.
Consider getting a "dump" bank to take your leftovers. I've been told by three local banks (when I first started crh) that if I was going to continue buying and returning boxes of coins they would charge me with service charges. They have to order stock to replace what I buy and then they get overstocked when I return the coins. Now, I buy from one or two banks and dump the extras at a couple of others.
I get rolls from the same bank and always return them. I know that I am getting diff rolls because I always find more that I would have found if I received the same roll previously.
I do this as well. the tellers at the bank I buy my boxes from always thank me for not dumping all my coins back in their branch. Also if you check with the bank you dump , if you have an account, some will give you a big plastic bag to return unrolled coin in. you put the amount on the bag seal it they send it to be counted and any difference is removed from your account. saves a lot of time rerolling and then at least you know you won't get the same coins back for a bit.
One of my banks specifically said they would order my kennedys as long as I don't return them to their bank. I return everything to TCF bank because they have the change machine (like coinstar). There is no charge if you have an account. You also get $50 for opening a new account!
I was just informed by a bank that I am out of town at, that they charge a service fee and only order boxes of cents for account holders. Evidently, they don't stock boxes of cents. I didn't even bother to ask about other coins. I'll just go home and buy from my bank. I have 4 dump banks, so that has not been a problem. I never take the same denomination coins back to the same bank. I may deposit some, trade quarters for dimes or cents or whatever.I really try to avoid a pattern.
I dont go through very many coins, so I just buy coins at a bank and when I am done searching, I put them in a vending machine and press coin return for quarters or dollars back. I spend those on more coins. I usually search nickels. If I start searching more, I will need to find a dump bank.
Yes, probably need to. I am going through 1-3 boxes of cents (more of other coins if thats what I am on) a week some weeks and that's why I need to mix it up some. There's a newer local bank that I am waiting to buy from. Change the pace a bit, I hope.
Yes definitely don't dump where you eat. The place I order from knows that I look for older coins for my albums, which I do. I also tend to keep any pre-64 dime or quarter and any pre-71 half dollar I find. Do not tell them about silver. I don't get much in the boxes, but it is fun working on the kennedy set, I hope to have a complete ben set someday, but I've only got 2-3 out of the 20 or so boxes I've done.
