I collect only Russian coins, and by chance came across these: The years are 1900, and 1905-1912 for a total of 9 of these. They're obviously circulated, but I have never had any experience with these. Are they worth anything or practically just face value due to wear... ? I'd look it up in references if I had any that deal with US coins sorry. Not trying to be lazy, I just never had to know anything about US coins until now. Worth? Any input is appreciated. I only have a picture of this side for now, sorry.
Flip that 1912 over, and see if there's an "S" on it. Otherwise, I'd say they are all lower grade commons worth $1 to $2 each. If you are selling them, it might be a good starter set for someone looking to get into collecting V-nickels.
They are low grade. A nice one you can read the liberty on the headband. So yours are maybe G4 without seeing the reverse. But you have some different years there and can start a set. Look at the back of the 1912 for a mintmark. The Denver mint is a good one to have. But the 1912-S is a key date.
I'm not questioning his opinion but his assumption that he is an "expert". Not saying I'm an expert of anything or near that level.
Just gotta remember what it was to be a kid... The older they/we get the more we realize we don't know as much as we think we do...their time will come. There are of course exceptions to this rule, I've met more than a few adults who answer everything with, "Oh, i know", whether they do or not. Those are the ones that get on my nerves....patience is a virtue
I guess that's something I have to learn USMoneylover. I guess 15 is too early to act like those crusty old guys on the CU forum Dan
15 is a great age. Between now and 27 you'll never know more. Then you'll find out how much you DIDN'T know and be humbled. It certainly worked that way with me. Of course expertise is normally relative to the group you are in at the moment. Among the general public, we are all coin experts. Among ourselves, perhaps expert (or more accurately specialists) in a certain type of coin. Then among the elite specialists, we may be novices.
