I'm looking to buy this but wanted to get other views on value and if possible, a grade, preferably in UK benchmarks. There may be stops missing from the edge or it may be a listing error. Any comments on whether it might have been cleaned or polished too....would be helpful.....doesn't look like it to me, but open to being corrected. Thanks, Marbury518
I would grade VF although it has a rim/edge ding just below the date, looks uncleaned Spink gives 6 different varieties for this coin. Tony Claytons site gives upto date price guides http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/values/fives.html But never pay guide price.
1819 lix Thanks Guys....won't go above £50 then....if it doesn't have the stops it might still be a good buy.
Just been outbid by £1........with the edge ding and a pretty low valuation not sure I want to pursue it......mmmmmm I'll have a think.....j
This better? Had a think......do we think this meets the standards of an EF? If so, the pocket might stretch to it. Thanks in advance....Marbury518
In india all crowns are costly than current book value.your quote was cheap. If i were you i would have bidded more to corner the first beauty. How much you bidded for the second one? please quote after you win the bid
Hi Marbury The latter photos are a bit tricky because they're smaller than those for the former example. However, I'd say not quite EF .... definitely better than VF, so I'd say gVF. There's also some spotting behind the head. A decent example, but I'd say there would be nicer ones out there for what you'd be paying.
