Initially, I thought the "Westward Journey" nickels were comprised of: 1. Peace Medal 2. Keelboat 3. Bison 4. Ocean in View When the Mint releases the 2006 "Return to Monticello" design, I thought it was not part of the "Westward Journey" series; rather it was the beginning of a new design series to last for many years to come. However, the picture on the Mint's website shows the "Return to Monticello" nickels as part of the "Westward Journey" series. Can someone please explain?
I believe they are probably calling it that as part of a marketing campaign because the previous 2 yrs have been so successful.
And I "believe" you are exactly right, my friend. :high5: Modern Mint products, and the marketing campaigns that accompany them, are aimed at high volume sales. The state quarter idea turned out to be such an unexpected windfall, that the floodgates have been opened wide. Now, we have various nickel designs. Soon we'll have all kinds of small dollar coin designs. Then numerous cent designs. Who knows what's next? All for sale, at a price, by your friendly neighborhood government. Glad I'm a coin collector, and such matters won't concern me. :goof:
