    I am thinking of collecting washington quarters 32-64 in ms66 or higher slabed. what should I look for white or toned? Here is one that I have that is toned, is it good tone or bad?

    IMO--Toned...when you find a WHITE coin more than likely its been dipped at one point in time....a coin tones...the chances that it was in the right place since the day it was minted is slim.
    BUT....this is total up to you....if you like WHITE coins better....by all means buy WHITE...

    I desperately wish I could advise you to chose which you prefer - pristine or tarnished - but sadly in the real world your choice is almost always between cleaned and tarnished for coins more than a few years old, so you pays you money and you takes yer cherse. ;)

    In my mind this is like asking what kind of ice cream is better - chocolate or vanilla ? Some folks are gonna say one or the other. But somebody will always answer with something that I personally would think weird - like pistachio. But to them it isn't.

    There is no way to answer this question - for it depends on the individual.
