I don't know about the paper currency but the $2.50 gold piece, if certified MS64 by a major TPG, is worth $1200 minimum.
Hi Boxer, Welcome to CT. For the notes how about posting your notes in a new thread in the Paper Money forum. There you will get a lot more attention and accurate information from the Paper collectors that frequent CoinTalk. I'm not exactly sure what it is you are asking about, "what do you guys think?", what you are looking for or what you want to know about your dad's collection, but if it's the value and/or grade of the notes, then you simply must provide scans or sharp and in focus photos of each note, front and back. It's important to know which Series each note is from and it's condition that we are giving feedback on, for instance 'Series of 1928', 'Series of 1953' and so on... The more complete information you provide, the better the replies will be to your inquiry. If you need a web site for posting your photos on, try photobucket.com You can set up an account for free to host your images then once they are uploaded there, you can copy the image links to the threads here and we will be able to see what you have. As for the 1928 gold quarter eagle ($2.50) graded MS-64, what is the grading company listed on the label? PCGS, NGC, ANACS, ICG... is it graded and in a plastic slab at all? You mentioned that it's "uncirculated" so maybe it has just been graded by your dad, grandfather or a coin dealer but not actually slabbed (in a sealed plastic holder). IF it is actually graded and a solid MS-64 you can look at the Numismedia Fair Market Value web site to get a rough idea of values. Also check eBay Advanced Search - "Completed Auctions" to see what similar coins may have sold for recently. Again, Welcome to CT. There's a lot to explore, learn and share here. Can't wait to see your notes. :thumb:
mpcusa, yea that is what my dad has, well I that I know of i have a lot of coins that are valuable just am saving for a long time. I'm only 19 so I want to wait a while before any type of selling/auctioning lol.
