i suppose this could be an open ended question. not sure if it has been done yet or not. but who is your favorite collector and how did they influence you? 4 me it is my grandfather. he told me he always put pocket change in a old cigar box and saved it up for hard times. he had many common wheaties and common silver dimes qtrs and some half's. i put all my pocket change in a candy dish and when full go thru it. how about you? jfa
Grandpa inspired me. He has been hoarding silver since the late fifties, and has accumulated some serious stockpiles. He has more Morgans than i have ever seen in the hands of one collector. He got me started with wheats, and from there it was searching federal reserve boxes together. I stopped collecting for a short while during my teens, but have been at again for the last 15 years. He lives way out there in Appalachia, and always calls me when a good auction comes up. His passion still lies with Morgans , and Barber coinage as well as ASE's.
Like Kevo, I too had stopped collecting in my teens. Girls and cars, you know... My father got me into coin collecting at a pretty young age of ten or so. He let me raid his stash of wheaties to get started on cents, and got me a bunch of Whitman coin folders for Christmas one year. Now my collection dwarfs his considerably.
