    Hey again...
About a week ago, I submitted a couple of photos of a '38 Jefferson I dug out of my pocket change. My question at that time related to FS as opposed to no steps existance in determining value for this particular date. Additionally, I mentioned that this nickel was a DDO.
However, several of the folks responding either couldn't see any doubling, or if they did, they attributed it to machine multiple strikes. I'm curious as to how one can differentiate between the two types of doubling, since the differences must be incredibly subtle. I've attached 3 new photos of this coin, with particular focus on profile doubling, and the date.
Any feedback regarding die doubling vs machine as it relates here would be mucho appreciated.
    thx....boj

    Hi,
    I have a picture f a 1938 QDO five-cent coin in my Gallery.
To make a long story short, the lettering looks elongated and there are notches visible on the bottoms of the letters.
On the upper left part of this page, there is a link to the galleries. After clicking on "Members Categories", Go to the Doubled Die page and look for the 1938 Nickel.
