The US mint is still selling the 2009 6 quarter silver proof sets for $29.95. The silver content of this set is now valued at approx. $26. So for $4 extra you get 6 US Mint Proof coins in an air-tight container and COA. :thumb: I already own a few sets but I don't know of a better deal on silver at the present time! If the US Mint will keep selling their Silver Proof coins @ 2009 prices, I feel obligated to keep buying. It just feel patriotic!
TRUE, TRUE, TRUE!!!! Whata bargain. Be a gazillion out there before the stop selling. Spot will send them to melt in three days, it seems.
Do you know how much each quarter weights? I could not find that on the US Mint site. I got two sets but will probably buy more. Beautiful quarters IMO. Thanks!
Silver quarters weigh the same as the pre-65 standards. 6.25 grams (90% silver). Coinflation.com/coins: Silver Coin Calculator
Just order two set's, if they are still around next week will order a few more. Money's kind of tight right now.Not buying because of price of silver but a good deal for 6 Silver Quarters, was looking on Ebay and if got one coin price would be around 6-7 each so would be cheaper getting from the Mint.
Sadly, these containers are NOT air tight by any means. Your coins can/might/will tone in original Mint packaging.
Total 2009 silver proof quarter sets (including those in the silver mint sets) will have a total mintage of over 991,000. I wonder how many 2010 silver proof sets the Mint manufactured, and when they will stop selling them. The 2011 sets are scheduled for release in January 2011. I hope that they don't keep selling the 2010 sets for almost eleven months into 2011. I feel that the Mint should not offer two years versions of the same series again.
2009 quarter silver proof set at $29.95/set. what if silver go up to $100.00/oz as many predicted. the 2009 six pieces silver quarter set bullion value will be worth $108.51. but the 2009 quarter clad proof set will remain at $14.95/set. what a gap?.
Sold out no way Well just was checking US MINT SITE and they sold out, I guess I was lucky that was able to get in my two sets that I got in before the sell out, I bet if there was no articles and ads, that they still be there to get. So there goes my big plan to stock up on them and make a killing on having for my sets.
It's available for order again. (or was a little while ago) One of the better deals for US legal tender silver coinage at the moment, IMO. Sadly, it's also an indication on how much the US dollar is being debauched by the Federal Reserve.
