Better marketing? I own a significant number of pcgs and ngc slabbed coins, and think that they are right on par with each other for grading accuracy. They are considered the top two companies. PCGS has simply done a better job of marketing their registry and has more buyers drinking their cool aid... PCGS holders are a bit nicer... but I'd never pay more for a coin because it is in a PCGS holder over an NGC (or ANACS for that matter).

People for years have heard that PCGS was better...IMO they aren't...NGC is the same or better in most case's...
But since that people have heard that they coins almost always sell for more than NGC slabs.
When I'm buying a high dollar coin I always try to find it in a NGC, ANACS, and sometimes a ICG or PCI slabs...if I agree with the grade I get a good coin for lot less money.

Speedy brings up a good point. When buying on ebay, I always search NGC, ANACS, PCI (older green label generally) first and see what I find. Strangely, I often find a well graded coin for a good bit less than the same PCGS. I don't find this true when going to my favorite online stores, where they stand behind the grade. The coin is the coin, and mature sellers don't take discounts due to plastic, nor mark up due to plastic.
