    I just bought for $6.25

It just arrived in the mail I opened it up and seriously I believe the steel cent is in BU condition now I would not say it is above MS-65 but it is seriously untouched and only minor toning on the bottom of the reverse.

I wish I could take better pictures but the wife is on vacation with our 10MP camera.

What would you value the entire set at? Considering everything else is in Seriously circulated condition.

Sometimes there are some really nice bargain found. Man, I have even sold stuff way below what I thought it would bring just because the bidding wasn't there. One of my friends from here says "Sometimes you are the Fire Hydrant, sometimes you are the dog."

    Congrats !

    Ps. I'm jealous. lol

Well... first off the steel cent does not look BU to me It looks plated which means it is worth about .04 cents along with the other cents in the group. The silver is worth about $5.30. If I was selling this at a flea market or something like that I would ask $6.00 for the set.

$6.00 here in Canada, too. A dealer had a few at a show here, recently.

Hmm I have read up on the re-plating of zinc how can I be certain it is not a re plate?
I mean there is no bubbling and you can see all the minor details of the coin including the fine lines in the
wheat ears. And not limited to all of Lincoln's hair as well as the VDB on Lincolns shoulder (it isn't that visible but you can clearly see it) I could be wrong I am not going to take it out of the case without absolute certainty.

I can tell you without a doubt that it is plated. I am looking at a BU roll in front of me and they look nothing alike. Plus... I have seen crap loads of plated ones, they all have that same look.

Conducted my own research and found:
    http://askaboutcoins.com/2010/10/1943-steel-cents-reprocessed-or-not/

My opinion is that it looks more like 5, hard to tell as an amateur from the picture. I thought I struck gold.
Speaking of gold. Would this be a good buy for an aspiring owner of gold. I cannot really afford to buy an ounce, nor a gram.
I understand how small it is and that it will take a little over 15 to make one gram. But I want to be able to own some gold. Buy as much as possible from check to check... thoughts??

Do not buy less than 1g quantities unless they're in certified assay cards. Don't get into the grains type of stuff. Even small 1g, 2g, 2.5g, 5g bars should be in assay cards. Save up until you can afford a 1g bar in an assay card.
