We have been throwing our change into a big jug for years. Its finally time to go through everything and this came out in the first handfull. Oppinions please, I've looked under X10 and still cant really make out if this is a large cud or some kind of lamination error. Let me know what you think. If its a cud it seems pretty big to me.
It's a lamination. Peeled and folded over. Btw.... a "cud" would include the edge of the coin. A die chip would not.
I always thought "cud error" was any excess coin metal that ended up on the coin during production placement was not an issue
A cud is a particular type of die chip or die break. It happens when a piece breaks off the edge of a die. The area affected on the coin always involves the rim. If the rim is not involved then the error is a die chip or die break depending on it's size.
