I'm sure y'all have read about this great news so here's a couple of questions. I hope to buy a few or at least two! I think they will be released for sale by 8/15/11, and they will cost $79!! That's what I guess, how about you? How many do you hope to buy? When do you think they will be available? How much do you think they will cost, for the silver ones of course? http://www.coinnews.net/2010/08/16/911-commemorative-medals-in-2011/
Two things will determine if I buy one. Design of course. And where the money goes. The world got burned the first time around when they gave to charities in the name of the victims only to later find out the funds were funneled through groups who had nothing to do with the trajedy. Guy
Actually my guess is $79. The article says around $50 but it also says $10 will go to Museum and WTC org or something to that affect. Don't go by my guesses, you need to read the article and take it from there. :thumb:
They should create a limited edition version of the medal from scrap steel from the 1 WTC and 2 WTC and the Pentagon.* *To anybody who is going to correct me: Yes, I know that in 2002 unofficial medals were struck made from WTC scrap steel.
Even at $50, it's too much. If you look at the prices of most of the modern commems just since 2000, there are only a very few that sell for more than the original issue price. The only people who will come out ahead are those who buy in quantity, submit them for grading and sell the 70's at ridiculous prices. Please, don't tell me about ordering limits because there are companies that have every employee order for them. Chris
Well they could sell for $50 or more but my guess is alot of ppl would want one of these and unless they look like total krapus I'll buy one to keep and one to resell! The BSA coin looked terrible IMO and is a terrible resale item, but in 9/11 alot of Americans and others remember exactly where they were and what the headlines were for days on end and many Americans lost their lives in that terrorist act. I think alot of ppl will buy! Anyone?
The BSA coin was $43.95, the price of silver has gone up. I can image $50.00 for all comm. coins from now on.
That's a lot o' jing for something that's not even NCLT. What's the weight and compositin of this medal?
Around a year ago or so before the legislation even went thru I posted the same question and all kinds of ppl were talking about buying these. It's terrible what a bad economy brings with it! That said, I will still buy and I think when the time comes others will buy too!
