At the show today, the dealer I purchased my last sealed bank bag had another but this one was a little different. Dated 1964, it contains rolls as opposed to loose coins. I questioned this and was told by another dealer (who is a major Canadian dealer) that that was common. The mint shipped both ways, loose and rolls in bags. The reverse of the lead seal says "MAN" for Manitoba even though there wasn't a Bank of Manitoba at the time.
Not many. Most of the errors were in 1962 but those bags are impossible to find and when you do come across one you pay a lot. This sealed bag is strictly a collectible in itself.
Is it worth opening up those rolls and looking for an xtra-water line variety? Do you think the writing on the bag is 'period'?
I believe so. All the bags the dealer has had have come from one estate and all are dated even though there is no other indication on the bag as to what year they're from. So, the original collector would have labeled them as he got them. *Extra water line? in a penny?
I didnt think many people collected canadian money, I always thought of their money as worthless garbage.
