I have a few of these bicentennial quarters, maybe 10 and 2 of them don't have mint marks. They are all clad, copper in the middle quarters so they're nothing special at all. Are they supposed to have mint marks and if they don't is that an error?
My understanding is that after 1968 all mints including the Philadelphia mint was gonna place mint marks on coins. Read the link http://www.coin-collecting-guide-for-beginners.com/mint-mark-on-coins.html
Mintmarks for Philadelphia first appeared on the SBA in 1979. Beginning in 1980 they were added to all the Philadelphia coins except the cent and that is how it has been since then.
He did that. I have read that the 1976 US Quarter is the most hoarded coin in the US or maybe the world ? If my wife had a 1964 & a 1976 and needed one of them for a parking meter, you know which one she saved. lol gary
I've been waiting patiently for someone to bring up the topic of value for these coins because it usually reiterates what you have just said. I've posted this, my experience with these coins, before on CT in other .25¢ Bicentennial coin threads:
I believe there is a known DDR for the quarter. Not sure about other denominations. If you think you have a variety for this year, it is best to start a new thread with pictures, as this thread is over 2 years old. Keep up the hunt!
